I'm off on holiday. Normal service will resume upon my return.
Seeing as I did a sandwich on Monday I thought I'd do a soup today. The M&S xmas soup to be precise. Not great to be honest. MUCH better than their sandwich though. Imagine if you put a Christmas dinner in a blender like you do four days after christmas day. It's like that but lumpier. I'm going to have to stop with all this turkey otherwise I'll be fed up by the time the real deal comes along. Week off next week. I'm going to have to go cold turkey. Chortle.
I'd like to thank my work colleague Sid for his regular gifts of illustrated milk bottles. From left to right we have: Sting, Genesis, Lionel Richie and Spandau Ballet's hair. Sting has a message which reads "What's your problem Ben? Tell Sting your little problem. On the Genesis bottle each memeber is saying "I'm Phil Collins". Lionel Richie (drawn on a tissue) reads "You wanna cry Ben.You cry on me. Lionel dry you up. Finally, Spandau Ballet's hair tells me not to listen to Sting but to them "The hair from 1980's pop super group Spandau Ballet." Thank you Sid. I think.
We were talking about graffiti and tags and all that kind of jive at work the other day. Surprisingly, although I have graffiti'ed (just once to raise money for disabled orphans with aids) I dont have my own tag. Immediately I set about sketching one up on paper as this is what all the pro's apparently do (although I do think a "professional graffiti artist" is a bit of a contradiction in terms). Keep a look out for "Caribbean Stu", I took a lot of visual influence from Rastafarianism as I believe it to be the belief system most closely connected to my own. I also have my own logo which is the sun smoking a massive spliff. Often I have thought the world would be a better place if the sun just smoked a massive spliff and hopefully one day I will get the oppurtunity to manifest my dream. Until then, just believe.
Seeing as i missed last week, I thought I'd have one today. It was the turn of the Pret a Manger and what an improvement on M&S and EAT it was indeed sir. Far from great, but not a bad effort. Bread was tasty but not totally fresh, turkey was a bit tough but adequete, a generous amount of stuffing and a good dollop of tasty cranberry. I didn't even object to the spinach leaves. Onwards and upwards.
Introducing this years must have toy. It's SoldierMan and his trusty sidekick: JonnyDog. They travel through space searching for the evil lifeforms that murdered SoldierMan's wife with their minds. SoldierMan also lost a leg as he was travelling through Kankakata. He decided to feed it to JonnyDog as he hadn't eaten for 12 decades. They long to return to their home planet of Kedra but only when justice has been done.
So after the last two weeks I'm hardly looking forward to this week's Xmas sandwich so when my friend Chris rang me out of the blue and asks if i want to get some lunch I accepted with a huge amount of relief. I took him to this vegetarian curry place I used to go to quite often when I worked in a different part of town. He was quite excited when he saw dosa's on the menu, so I thought i would share in his excitement and order one. About five minutes later what you see in the picture above was placed in front of me. "Shit me!" I though, not only is that the biggest piece of food I have ever seen, it's actually the biggest thing I have ever seen. I ate it all though and it was delicious.
