Fancy a twit?

For those of you who know what twitter is, hang on a minute.

If you dont know what twitter is, it's basically like the status update on facebook but without anything else. I know, rubbish eh?

If you dont know what facebook is, it's basically a socially networking blog feed that facilitates all the best bits of myspace, flickr, mp5's, cybercafe slut pigeons and sky plus using RSS and html.

I've never really got on with twitter. I signed up for an account and only twitted once about a tiny lady I saw getting money from a cash machine. Recently however I have enjoyed catching up with my main man Don Draper and the incredibly amazing Joan Holloway. The general premise for twitter is it's for stuff that you want to tell people but isn't quite worthy of a blog post. I cant do this though, I'd be on the internet all the time and too busy to actually do anything worth telling people about. Anyway, I have decided to set myself little one week twitter projects. The first is: On the Twitter where I inform people of each and every visit to the toilet. It's going quite well. Have a look. If you want.

Toot toot. Good friends and lovely people Rob Ellis and Nick Horne have embarked on what can only be described as "a very, very good thing" They are taking a shiny gold, wagon of love around the country which is doubling up as a mobile art gallery. Sweet. They have some of their work in there plus work from a collection of illustrators and artists (including our Propergandhi stuff). Follow their progress here and if you are going to be in a place they will be, go over to them, give them a kiss on the bum, let them put stickers on your knees and buy some art. You bastards.

I like the internet. Far too much. But I also hate it. And I hate it for the reason that I like it. It's just too distracting and you can spend time on there doing nothing but because you're less passive than when you watch TV for example, you sort of feel like you're doing something. The other problem is the place where I get my internet from is the place where I do all my work. That's a good thing because I do need the web for work but I dont need it half as much as I use it. This has come along though. Is it the answer or will it just be mega frustrating? Do I just need to be tougher on myself? Its just that when you're staring at a blank script the internet is so more colourful and nicerer and ruder and funny. I'm going to test it out. Thanks to Dan for the link.

I dont often visit Chortle these days. In case you didn't know it's a site devoted to comedy with news, reviews, tickets, listings etc. I had a little look yesterday as i am going to The Edinburgh Festival this weekend and I found two stories that made me realise I should visit this happy little site more often. First up, Harry Hill is to release his own brand of nuts and secondly a statue of one of my heroes, Les Dawson, is to be unveiled in Lytham St Annes in October. I'm booking my train tickets now. Although just to add a sour yang to the schmaltzy yin Bernie Mac does have pneumonia and is in an extremely critical condition. That's life folks, that's life.

Update - I think rather than genius and madness it's the line between good and shit isn't it?

Bye Bye K Town

So, after just over 2 years in Kennington I have moved on but I shall miss my little K-town for many reasons. I spent my two years there constantly either informing people where it was or defending my reasons for living there. I think that's one of its plus points, its really well located but no one actually knows where it is making it feel much further away from London than it is. You would never go for a big night out but you could happily spend a weekend (or two years) there without ever getting bored. I will miss the Kennington Park (the birthplace of democracy), Cleaver Square (where I played petoignon), The Madeira Star cafe, pubs like the Dog House, The Prince of Wales and The White Hart, the views from my flat (I realise this is more about flats that are high up but Kennington helped in terms of what I could see), Vauxhall City Farm, the friendly internet cafe which was also a Spanish video shop who helped us out when vodafone didnt, the off licence at the top of our road with very entertaining staff, the block of flats where I lived which had a genuine sense of community about it with regular barbeques, parties and gossip in the lifts and last but not least, friends Lisa and Ali just up the road. Bye bye K Town, I miss you already.

A bit beard

I like this. A group of fellas all started a beard growing competition promising to post a picture at least every 7 days. Those who could not stick to the time frame were entered into the Hall of Shame. It was very well documented and I like the design of their site a lot too. The competition has now finished but a new one is starting next year which I am right keen to enter. Onwards and outwards brothers.
